Moving, transporting and storing cylinderscan be a challenge. It’s important to make sure you’re using the correct equipment to store and move cylinders properly, not only so they operate as intended when you need them, but also to prevent any injuries.

When moving cylinders, make sure to use equipment designed for them. Also, make sure valves are closed, valve protection is in place, and the cylinder is secured and moved in the upright, valve-up position.

When storing cylinders – the same guidance applies. All cylinders should remain stored upright until use, with a chain, strap, or other gas supplier-approved device. Make sure to use valve protection for any cylinders you’re not currently using.

Once you’re ready to use a cylinder – remember to re-secure the other cylinders after taking out the ones you need. Then, make sure all equipment is connected before opening the valve. When opening the valve, point the valve away from personnel and open the valve slowly. Sudden release of product can cause injury or damage the equipment, so use caution.

Do not modify, use adaptors or the incorrect valve outlet with your cylinder, and do not force connections that do not fit. Call S.J. Smith or your gas supplier for the correct valve outlet connection.
